Guidance when things feel off course.

Compass

Light Backdrop_edited.jpg

Not every dog needs a full program.

Sometimes you don’t need to rebuild the entire foundation—you just need clearer direction in the moments that matter most.

Compass Sessions are designed for dogs working through a specific, clearly defined challenge where practical guidance, structure, and real-world application can create meaningful progress.

This is not ongoing training or a long-term program.

It’s focused support to help you get back on course.

Targeted guidance for specific behavioral challenges.

Compass Sessions are not designed for:

  • Severe or escalating aggression

  • Dogs struggling across multiple areas of life

  • Significant bite history or safety concerns

  • Dogs who are consistently overwhelmed in most environments

  • Guardians looking for ongoing/open-ended support

In those cases, a more structured foundation through Trailhead is typically the better starting point.

Because lasting progress comes from building the system underneath the behavior—not just managing the symptom itself.

Who this is not for

How Compass Sessions work

Compass Sessions follow a simple 3-session structure designed to create clarity, direction, and practical application.

The goal is not dependence.

The goal is helping you understand:

  • what’s happening,

  • why it’s happening,

  • and how to move forward confidently on your own.

Who these sessions are for

Compass Sessions are best suited for dogs struggling with:

  • Mild to moderate leash reactivity

  • Overarousal or difficulty slowing down

  • Barking in specific environments

  • Pulling or rushing on walks

  • Difficulty settling in certain situations

  • Environmental overwhelm in predictable contexts

  • Apartment or condo-related challenges

  • Specific handling or communication breakdowns

These sessions work best when:

  • The issue is fairly isolated

  • The dog can still process and respond

  • Guardians are ready to apply structure consistently between sessions.

Real-Life Training, Not Perfect Repetition

Compass Sessions are designed around the environments your dog actually lives in.

That may include:

  • neighborhoods,

  • apartment complexes,

  • parks,

  • walking paths,

  • public spaces,

  • or transition-heavy environments.

The focus is not creating a dog who only succeeds in controlled setups.

The focus is building:

  • awareness,

  • regulation,

  • communication,

  • and clearer decision-making in everyday life.

What Progress Actually Looks Like

Progress is rarely linear.

Often, the first signs of progress look like:

  • your dog recovering faster,

  • noticing triggers earlier

  • checking in more often,

  • disengaging sooner,

  • or becoming easier to guide through situations.

Sometimes success is not "perfect behavior."

Sometimes success is:

  • less escalation,

  • more awareness,

  • and a dog who can stay connected longer than before.

That matters.

What Matters Most Between Sessions

The sessions themselves are only part of the process.

Progress comes from:

  • consistency,

  • slowing down,

  • clear communication,

  • and thoughtful repetition in day-to-day life.

We provide:

  • structure,

  • guidance,

  • and practical tools.

The follow-through happens at home.

Not sure where to start?

If you're unsure whether Compass Sessions or Trailhead is the better fit, start with a consultation.

We'll help point you in the right direction.

Session One -- Assess + Orient

We identify:

  • what’s driving the behavior,

  • where thresholds begin,

  • and how the environment is influencing your dog.

You'll begin learning:

  • communication,

  • movement,

  • distance,

  • timing,

  • and how to intervene earlier.

Outcome: A clearer understanding of your dog and immediate changes you can begin applying right away.

Session Two -- Build + Clarify

Now we evaluate:

  • consistency,

  • timing,

  • handler awareness,

  • and where confusion is still showing up.

We refine:

  • leash handling,

  • positioning,

  • reinforcement timing,

  • and environmental setup.

Outcome: Better communication, more predictable responses, and improved clarity for both dog and guardian.

Session Three -- Apply + Progress

This session focuses on:

  • real-life application,

  • progressing without overwhelming the dog,

  • and helping guardians understand how to continue building after sessions end.

You'll learn:

  • when to increase difficultly,

  • when to slow down,

  • and how to recognize meaningful progress.

Outcome: You leave with the tools, structure, and understanding needed to continue confidently on your own.

Clear direction for specific challenges.
